We all know that the charging speed of PD power adapter is much faster than that of ordinary charger, but few people know why the PD power adapter can charge faster and how the PD power adapter works.

First, when the PD power adapter is connected to the charging device. The line tells the charging device how many voltages the power adapter can provide and the corresponding current. Then, after knowing the Power Supply capacity of PD power adapter, the electrical device will choose the most appropriate power supply mode and request data packets from the adapter. It is important to note that if the PD power adapter cannot provide the voltage supported by the electrical device, then the PD fast charging cannot be performed. Therefore, when selecting PD power adapter, the more supported voltage files, the better.

The PD power adapter, knowing the choice of electrical device, evaluates its capability, then sends the "accept" command, performs the internal voltage transformation, and sends the "power-ready" packet to the electrical device. The new power supply voltage negotiated is then applied to VBUS. If the power is only supplied, then PD has completed the task, which is called PD handshake protocol.
