Power adapter is usually made of high density plastic material. Plastics can be divided into ordinary grade, temperature resistant grade, flame-retardant grade and electroplating grade according to their use. The main plastics used in our common power adapter are PC, ABS and PC + ABS.


1. Properties of PC plastics


Polycarbonate (PC) is a kind of strong thermoplastic resin. Its characteristics are: ① high strength, 69mpa tensile strength and 96mpa bending strength. ② High temperature resistance, long-term use can withstand 130 ℃ temperature environment. ② Good transparency, non-toxic. ④ Raw material color matching and surface coating are inferior to ABS. PC material has good and constant electrical insulation in a wide range of temperature and humidity, and it is an excellent insulating material. At the same time, its good flame resistance and dimensional stability make it form a wide application field in the electronic and electrical industry.


2. Characteristics of ABS plastics


Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer (ABS) is a thermoplastic polymer material with high strength, good toughness and easy processing. It can perform normally in the environment of - 25 ℃ ~ 60 ℃, and has good formability. The surface of processed products is bright and clean, and easy to dye and electroplate. The properties of ABS material: ① low strength, 43mpa tensile strength, 79mpa bending strength. ② Temperature resistance, long-term use temperature shall not be higher than 60 ℃. ③ The fluidity, coloring, surface spraying and electroplating performance are all good. ABS materials are widely used in household appliances, panels, masks, assemblies and accessories, especially in household appliances, such as washing machines, air conditioners, refrigerators, fans, etc., with a large amount of consumption. In addition, ABS materials are widely used in plastic modification.


3. Characteristics of PC + ABS plastics


Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is a kind of general thermoplastic polymer. The composite of PC and ABS, taking the characteristics of the former two, has excellent molding performance, good fluidity and high strength (tensile strength 56 MPa, bending strength 86 MPa). PC + ABS material is easy to process, stable in processing size and good in surface gloss, easy to paint and color, and can also be used for secondary processing properties such as spraying metal, electroplating, welding and bonding. Due to the characteristics of ABS combined with the characteristics of its three components, it has excellent comprehensive performance and become one of the preferred plastics for electrical components, home appliances, computers and instruments.
