How ultraviolet sterilization works

The working principle of ULTRAVIOLET sterilization is to destroy the DNA (DEoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid) molecular structure of microbial cells by using UVC ultraviolet radiation (mainly 240nm ~ 280nm), resulting in the death of growing cells and (or) regenerative cells, thus achieving the effect of sterilization and disinfection. So how does ultraviolet ray disinfect sterilization lamp radiate UVC ULTRAVIOLET ray?

At present, there are two main light sources of ultraviolet disinfection sterilization lamp -- gas discharge light source and solid state light source.

The main source of gaseous discharge is the low-pressure mercury lamp. The luminescence principle is the same as that of the fluorescent lamp we used before. By activating the mercury atoms in the lamp tube, the low-pressure mercury vapor mainly produces 254 nm UVC ultraviolet (radiation efficiency 30%~60%) and 185 nm UVD ultraviolet (radiation efficiency 5%~15%).

Solid-state light sources refer to UV-LED light sources. Uv-led UV rays are several orders of magnitude less efficient than low-pressure mercury lamps at about 3 percent (in this case, imported chips, less than 2 percent domestically made). Current costs are also very high and would be much more expensive than low-pressure mercury lamps to achieve the same radiation dose per unit. Some enterprises are already using UV-LED in water purifiers, air conditioners and air purifiers.
