Differences and relationships between power adapters and chargers

Charger usually refers to a converts alternating current to a low voltage dc equipment, its interior includes current limiting, such as pressure limiting meet charging control circuit, the characteristic of the power adapter is a transformer, rectifier and the voltage stability of power converter, the output is dc, in the case of meet the power can be understood as a low voltage stabilized voltage supply. Let's talk about what a power adapter is. What is a charger? What is the relationship and the difference between the two?

Charger: the English name Charger usually refers to a device that converts alternating current into low-voltage direct current. The Charger is a special dc Power Supply for rechargeable batteries. It includes control circuits that meet charging characteristics such as current limiting and voltage limiting.

Charger is widely used in various fields, especially in the field of life is widely used in electric cars, flashlights and other common electrical appliances. It generally charges the battery directly, without any intermediary devices or devices.

The process of the charger is: constant current - constant pressure - trickle, three - stage intelligent charging. The three-stage charging theory in the charging process can greatly improve the charging efficiency of the battery, shorten the charging time and effectively extend the battery life. Three-stage charging adopts constant current charging, constant voltage charging, and floating charging for maintenance and charging.

Generally, it can be divided into three stages: quick charging, replenishment charging and trickle charging:

Quick charging stage: charge the battery with a large current to quickly restore the battery power. The charging rate can reach above 1C. At this point, the charging voltage is low, but the charging current will be limited within a certain value range.

Supplementary charging stage: compared with the rapid charging stage, supplementary charging stage can also be called the slow charging stage. When the rapid charging stage is terminated, the battery is not fully sufficient, and the charging process should be added. The charging rate should generally not exceed 0.3c. Since the battery voltage increases after the rapid charging stage, the charging voltage in the supplementary charging stage should also be increased and kept within a certain range.

Trickle-current charging stage: in the late charging stage, when the temperature rise is detected to exceed the limit or the charging current is reduced to a certain value, a smaller current is used for charging until a certain condition is met and the charging ends.

Power Adapter: the common power Adapter on the market is a power converter that has been converted, rectified and stabilized. The output is direct current, which can be understood as a low-voltage stabilized power supply if the power is satisfied.

Power adapters are widely used in routers, telephone subunits, game consoles, language repeater, walkman, laptops, mobile phones and other devices. Most power adapters can automatically detect 100 ~ 240V ac (50/60hz).

Power adapter is a small portable electronic equipment and electronic appliances of the power supply conversion equipment, it puts the power supply outside, with a line and the host connection, so as to reduce the size and weight of the host, only a few devices and electrical appliances put the power supply inside the host.

It is composed of a power transformer and a rectifying circuit. According to its output type, it can be divided into ac output type and dc output type. According to the connection can be divided into plug wall type and desktop type. On the power adapter, there is a nameplate indicating the power, input/output voltage and current flow, with particular attention to the input voltage range.
